Emily Wathen

Senior Producer

A seasoned video creator, Emily has more than a decade of experience behind the scenes, behind the camera, and working her magic in post production.


Prior to joining the 4Science team, Emily served as a Digital Journalist at the Environmental Working Group, where she worked to shine a light on issues of environmental health by creating custom videos for web, social media, and both virtual and live events.


Emily also served as an Associate Producer and Assistant Editor for the feature-length documentary, PROJECT: ICE. This award-winning film viewed North America’s Great Lakes through the prism of ice, from the crossroads of history, science and climate change.


In addition, Emily has previously consulted for numerous clients to create video and multimedia assets. Some of her past clients include: The Johns Hopkins Hospital, “Ingredients” series for National Geographic, USAID, The National Democratic Institute, Nautical Channel, and the documentary film Heather Booth: Changing the World.


Emily is passionate about informing and inspiring the public about science-related topics, showcasing new and diverse voices, and sharing the impact that scientific research has on our world through video storytelling.


When not engrossed in film or video projects, you can likely find Emily at the National Arboretum, her DC happy place.
